Applications

InvaSeal Solutions provides engineered materials and systems designed to address a wide range of loss circulation and wellbore stability challenges encountered during drilling operations.

Applications are structured to address different loss mechanisms and severity levels, while allowing flexibility for standalone or combined use.

Seepage Loss Control

Seepage losses typically occur through pore networks and micro-fractures, often acting as the precursor to more severe loss conditions.

InvaSeal materials are designed to:

  • restrict fluid invasion into pore throats and micro-fractures
  • reduce pressure transmission into the formation
  • stabilize the wellbore and prevent escalation of losses

Typical application range:

  • 25–40 bbl/hr losses
  • pore and micro-fracture apertures up to approximately 200 µm

Partial Loss Control

Partial losses occur when fracture apertures increase beyond pore-scale flow, leading to sustained fluid losses and potential instability.

InvaSeal solutions provide:

  • effective bridging across moderate fracture apertures
  • improved sealing efficiency under dynamic flow conditions
  • stabilization of losses before escalation

These systems are designed to function reliably under varying operational conditions and drilling practices.

Severe and Total Loss Control

Severe losses involve large fracture networks and high-rate fluid loss, often requiring rapid and reliable sealing.

InvaSeal materials are engineered to:

  • bridge and isolate large fracture apertures
  • maintain structural integrity under high flow rates
  • enable rapid loss reduction in critical scenarios

Typical application envelope:

  • losses exceeding 40 bbl/hr
  • fracture apertures up to approximately 5000 µm

Wellbore Stability Enhancement

Wellbore instability is often closely linked to fluid invasion and pressure transmission into the formation.

InvaSeal materials support stability by:

  • mitigating micro-fracture propagation
  • reducing pressure penetration into the formation
  • improving overall mechanical integrity of the wellbore

This results in improved drilling performance and reduced risk of associated complications such as stuck pipe.

Fluid-Based Loss Mitigation Systems

In addition to solid-phase materials, InvaSeal has developed fluid-based systems designed to influence pressure transmission behavior within the wellbore.

These systems:

  • create pressure transmission barriers within leakage pathways
  • enhance sealing efficiency at micro and fracture levels
  • support wellbore stability as a function of the drilling fluid

A key advantage is ease of implementation, with strong tolerance to ionic contamination and compatibility with existing drilling fluid systems.

Application Philosophy

InvaSeal Solutions approaches loss control and wellbore stability as a continuum rather than isolated challenges.

This enables:

  • progressive response to increasing loss severity
  • flexibility in treatment selection
  • integration of materials and fluid systems for optimal performance
